For Richmond To Host The Honorable Willie L. Brown, Jr. During Black History Month

We are proud to share 4Richmond‘s Community Event WillieBrown12015

It is For Richmond’s distinct pleasure to announce that the Honorable Willie L. Brown, Jr., former mayor of San Francisco, will be visiting Richmond as our special guest during Black History Month.

Mr. Brown will appear in Richmond Feb. 25, 2015, for an invitation-only breakfast hosted by For Richmond, where he will speak on the topic of community leadership and responsibility at the local level.

Our organization has long admired Mr. Brown’s work at the Willie L. Brown Jr. Leadership Center, now Fellowship Program, where he has helped students from diverse backgrounds recognize their leadership potential and has prepared them for their future roles and responsibilities.

We have welcomed Mr. Brown to take his same vision and apply it to the Richmond community at large, which we feel would greatly benefit from it at this key juncture.

As we’ve all witnessed, it is a pivotal time here in Richmond. Key projects are moving forward—such as UC Berkeley’s Berkeley Global Campus on Richmond’s south shore and the Chevron Richmond Modernization Project—bringing the promise of burgeoning economic opportunities to our community.

Crime has plummeted, improvements are abounding throughout our West Contra Costa Unified School District, and every day, countless local citizens are working diligently to improve Richmond in every way imaginable.

With all of this positive change afoot, For Richmond would like to keep the momentum going. To this end, we welcome Mr. Brown’s rich experience and insights.

As part of this special event—and among others invited to attend—For Richmond will extend invitations to 100 Richmond residents that would participate in developing our next generation of leaders. Richmond residents between the ages of 19-30 years are welcomed to self-nominate themselves for an invitation to the breakfast by clicking here.

In the meantime, please stay posted—more info will follow soon!
