Dear Community Supporter,

On March 8, 2014, the Richmond Police Department Youth Services Division and Contra Costa County Employment and Human Services will be co-sponsoring the second annual Foster Care Youth Forum for foster care youth, ages 14-24, at LaVonya DeJean Middle School, located at 3400 Macdonald Avenue in Richmond.

The conference will provide approximately 100 foster care/kinship/ transitioning youth with an opportunity to engage in workshops on health and wellness, mentoring, employment development, personal care, life skills, expression through music and college readiness.

Last year’s conference was extremely successful, and we received excellent feedback from the youth on the value of the day’s activities.

We are currently seeking additional partners to sponsor this very special partnership. Your donation will bring us closer to our goal of $4,500 and match our agency contributions. Many business and community leaders have supported making this conference a reality, including Foster A Dream, Alameda County Children and Family Services, Contra Costa County Children and Family Services, The Richmond Community Foundation, and ILSP. Our community is clearly excited and eager to see this project succeed. You can be a part of that excitement by supporting our youth conference with a $1,000 donation, or any of the wish list items.

We are happy to acknowledge your donation on our website and at our numerous events, (unless you prefer otherwise).

If you have any queries regarding our organization, our fund management policy, or the project itself, please feel free to contact me at the address given above or our committee members, Duane Chapman and Mandy Swirsding.

Sincerely,

Delon Jackson,
Detective, Youth Services Division Project Lead
