RCOC Business Referral Network
The Richmond Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce a brand new benefit for its members: the opportunity to join a BNI-like business networking program called Business Referral Network, or BRN.
The BRN program already exists in several other Bay Area Chambers of Commerce such as San Ramon, Oakland, San Mateo, and San José. Many of our Chamber members already belong to a BNI chapter. However, there are currently no BNI chapters in Richmond, so our members travel to other cities to get the BNI experience.
The Business Referral Network is a proactive member group of and sponsored by the Richmond Chamber whose objective is to provide a bi-monthly networking program for the purpose of generating new business through referrals from fellow members.
Each BRN group will have 25-45 members, and shall consist of members representing non-competing businesses and organizations. To be eligible for membership in the Business Referral Network, a company must:
A) Be a member in good standing with the Richmond Chamber of Commerce.
B) Not be in competition with any other member of the Business Referral Network.
C) Be in a position to provide referral group members with legitimate pre-qualified referrals.
We anticipate that this program will be very popular, so act quickly to secure your business’s place in the first group.
The cost to join BRN is just $150 a year. For more information on membership requirements and expectations, and to access an application, click here.

Volunteer to become a Writer Coach
Volunteer to become a Writer Coach
at Richmond High School, Kennedy High School or Lovonya DeJean Middle School!
Writer coaches work with students one-on-one on their writing assignments and build caring relationships along the way. Coaches support students to think critically and to express their ideas in writing clearly and confidently. To develop these skills, crucial to college and workplace success, most students need more support than their schools can provide. Coaching is a way to engage with young people in our public schools and to be an integral part of your community.

At our first Coalition Quarterly Meeting on September 21, 2016, we will present the results of our summer and after-school literacy needs assessment, developed with Public Profit and distributed to over 50 partners in the summer of 2016. The resulting early literacy resource map contains data from dozens of organizations and partners offering literacy programs and services to children 0-9 years of age.
At this event, we will come together as a community of education advocates to talk about the identified gaps in early literacy services in West County, and to develop a plan of implementation in response to the needs that have been identified in our needs assessment. Refreshments will be served, and there will be structured time for networking and building partnerships.
