Melissa Hollander, Manager of Communications for Chevron Richmond, informed the community today that they have “taken a very important step to restart the Chevron Renewal Project.” Read her comments and the official press release below:

“Today, Chevron submitted a Conditional Use Permit application to the city of Richmond initiating a process to obtain approval for the construction of operational and environmental improvements to the Richmond Refinery. This effort will address questions raised by last year’s Appellate court rulings on the city’s original Environmental Impact Report for the Renewal Project.

The Renewal Project is a significant capital investment to replace older equipment with newer, cleaner technologies to reduce air emissions, conserve energy and improve refinery operations. Equally important, the project puts 1,000 people back to work and provides ongoing revenue for the city of Richmond.
