OAKLAND, Calif. – The Alameda-Contra Costa County Transit District announces the hiring of Claudia L. Allen as Chief Financial Officer effective December 7.
Allen brings more than 30 years of senior management experience in finance, accounting and budget development in large-scale organizations including the Port Authority of Allegheny County in Pittsburgh and Aetna Life & Casualty in Connecticut.
After launching her career with finance and management positions at Coopers & Lybrand and Aetna Life & Casualty, Allen transitioned to Controller at the Port Authority of Allegheny County, the 15th largest public transit agency in the U.S. There, she was soon elevated to Chief Financial Officer, serving for more than 20 years in that capacity. As CFO, she managed the Authority’s finances with operating and capital budgets averaging over $400 million per year and consistently delivered balanced operating budgets. Under her direction, the Authority won numerous Government Finance Officers Association Distinguished Budget Awards.

Allen earned a bachelor’s degree in Management from Point Park College, and a Master of Business Administration from University of Pittsburgh. She is an alumna of Leadership APTA, Leadership Pittsburgh, as well as The ENO Center for Transportation. Additionally, Allen has been honored with numerous awards including the Woman of Excellence Award from the New Pittsburgh Courier and the Black Achievers Award from Black Opinion Magazine. An active supporter of local community groups, she served as a board member for Pittsburgh Child Guidance Foundation, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre.
The Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District provides nearly 180,000 daily passenger trips with 151 bus lines throughout the 364-square-mile service area. AC Transit provides safe, convenient, courteous and reliable service in 13 cities and adjacent unincorporated areas in Alameda and Contra Costa counties as well as carrying almost 13,500 daily riders across the bay to San Francisco.
