Unveiling & Ribbon Cutting of the Officer Bradley A. Moody Memorial Underpass 

The City of Richmond and the Police Department are inviting the community to a special ceremony to celebrate the completion of the Officer Bradley A. Moody Memorial Underpass. The 2 year construction project solves a major connectivity problem in the South Richmond Shoreline area. The underpass opens up large portions of the Marina Bay neighborhood which was cut off by railroad grade crossings causing frequent traffic congestion and impeding emergency vehicle access.

The underpass, a project of the Successor Agency to the Richmond Community Redevelopment Agency, was built with $2 million of redevelopment funds, which leveraged $37 million in additional State transportation grants, Contra Costa County transportation sales tax, developer fees and railroad contributions.

The City of Richmond dedicated the underpass to Officer Bradley A. Moody, who died in a crash near the site of the project while responding to an urgent call from another officer.

The event will be open to the public, and will include remarks from guests and public officials, an unveiling of the underpass, walkthrough of the site.

Immediately following the ribbon cutting ceremony, a procession of patrol vehicles, led by the Moody family, will drive through the underpass to honor the memory of Officer Moody.
