Press Release from Gardeners’ Guild, November 19, 2013.
The Professional Landcare Network, a national organization representing over 100,000 landscape professionals recently presented Gardeners’ Guild with a first place honor for a landscape installation project in Mill Valley. Every year, The Network, referred to as “PLANET“, holds a celebratory dinner to recognize landscaper entries in multiple categories that include installation and maintenance for both residential and commercial properties. On the heels of that recognition, praise for the same project came from the California Landscape Contractors Association (CLCA). An “Outstanding Achievement” award was received by Gardeners’ Guild this past weekend at their annual ceremonial dinner.
An older Craftsman style home in Mill Valley is the setting for this landscaping project. In the course of making plans to renovate their house, the homeowners decided they wanted more outdoor living space. Their Landscape Architect Rebecca Coffman, hired Gardeners’ Guild to perform the installation.
To create additional outdoor level living space terracing was built. A seven foot high concrete retaining wall was constructed requiring extensive engineering. Additional components included wood decks, flagstone stairs, pathways, extensive planting, soil amendments, irrigation and outdoor lighting.
Kip Matthews, Gardeners’ Guild Construction Operations Manager beams when asked about his team. “Many people don’t realize the extent of training and experience that is necessary to pull off a project of this magnitude. These awards mean a lot for our staff and crews. They get so excited and can’t wait till the next project!”
