House Rabbit Society

Founded in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1988, House Rabbit Society is an International Animal Welfare organization with its headquarters here at the House Rabbit Society SF Bay Area location. The SF Bay Area House Rabbit Society Facility was purchased in 2000 and made possible by our wonderful donors, the fundraising efforts of our volunteers and the support of the rabbit community as a whole. Our facility seeks to further the advancement of rabbit medical care by providing low cost medical services, rabbit surgical training for veterinarians and medical volunteer hours for aspiring RVTs and Veterinarians.

We also strive to provide up-to-date health, wellness and behavior by way of digital and in person classes. Through our adoption and foster programs, we aim to save rabbit’s from the threat of euthanasia, build their confidence and trust, and pair them with loving families. Our Mission Our mission has two parts: Through our foster program, volunteers coordinate the rescue of at-risk rabbits at the local municipal shelters and find permanent adoptive homes for them. Through education, we seek to reduce the number of unwanted rabbits and improve those rabbit’s lives by helping people better understand these often misunderstood companion animals. In line with this mission we are against the exploitation of rabbits.

Location and Hours Our facility is located at 148 Broadway in Richmond California. Our Hop Shop and Rabbit Main Room are open for visitation Fridays and Saturdays from 11 am to 4pm and Sundays from 11 am to 3pm.
