“RICHMOND PUBLIC SAFETY SERVICES DISPATCH CALLS STUDY”

Background: Councilmembers Jimenez and McLaughlin requested staff hire a consultant to initiate a process for the Police and Fire Departments to address the need for a thorough examination of its current workloads and service delivery and determine what this means for its operations and staffing. The departments and the city are seeking fact-based assessments of workloads and services with a goal of a maximizing efficiency for the resources being committed to public safety services.
The project team will meet with the business community on July 20th in addition to other community workshop meetings.
Topics will include:
Legitimacy and Trust: What does the business community expect when calling the departments for assistance or in making a complaint?
Engagement and Communication: Does the business community feel that the RPD and RFD are transparent? Are there sufficient ways for the business community to express concerns?
Business Community Priorities: What public safety priorities does the business community want the department to focus on? Are the priorities with the departments’ in alignment with the business community’s priorities?

We are asking that participants come from the business community as there will be other meetings focused specifically on community/resident needs and feedback. Thank you for your consideration.
