Richmond Chamber and Main Street Initiative Board member brings financial expertise.
For Richmond is proud to announce longtime Richmond leader Xavier Abrams as the newest member of its Steering Committee, where she’ll join a broad coalition of public safety, labor, education, business, and community development leaders working to make a difference in the lives of Richmond residents.
“One of the things that makes For Richmond such a fantastic organization is its ability to be a one-stop-shop for members of the community,” said Abrams, a longtime Richmond resident and 20-year veteran at Mechanics Bank. “All someone has to do is get in touch with For Richmond, and they will help you individually. If they can’t help you directly, they’ll point you in the right direction so that you can find the best resource.”
Abrams, who is also a mother of two daughters, has a passion for volunteering in the community. To name just a few of the organizations that she is involved with, Abrams is a board member for the Richmond Main Street Initiative, the Richmond Chamber of Commerce and AnewAmerica Community Corporation. Abrams is also a participant in the Strategic Planning Process for the West Contra Costa Unified School District.
“We’re very excited to welcome Xavier Abrams to the For Richmond Steering Committee,” said Kyra Worthy, For Richmond Executive Director. “Her strong ties to the community and business experience make her a fantastic addition.”
A graduate of Cal State Hayward, Abrams began her career with Mechanics Bank in 1993, when she was hired as a teller. She is now the office manager for Richmond’s Mira Vista office.
“I’m really looking forward to being a part of the team,” Abrams said. “For Richmond has really great leadership, and I’m excited to join them.”
