Community Event
Help us make a difference in our community.

Mindful Life Project (MLP) has had an amazing 2017-2018 School Year! Through mindfulness we have empowered over 10,000 students across 22 Bay Area schools! This work would not and could not be possible without you – the parents, students, teachers, principals, and donors. Your support throughout the year allows us to bring programs like Mindful Community and Rise Up into the classrooms and change lives.

MLP needs your help to raise $14,000 by June 1st!

The MLP Mission is to empower underserved children through mindfulness and other transformative skills to gain self-awareness, confidence, self-regulation and resilience, leading to lifelong success.

At Mindful Life Project we focus on making sure each donation makes the most impact possible. This is what your donation would support for an entire year:

  • $3000 =   150 students become leaders in mindfulness through Mindful Community
  • $2000 =  One Rise-Up group uses yoga, expressive arts and performing arts to release trauma through healthy expression
  • $1000 =  Five students in Rise-Up form cohesive, non-judgemental teams to reduce trauma and its effects
  • $500 = One classroom receives Mindful Community for one year
Are you ready to support our youth?! Donate by:

Check: Please mail to 124 Washington Avenue, Suite B, Richmond, CA 94801 Attn: Jason Young

If you have any questions, or would like your donation to remain anonymous, please email JG Larochette at jg.mindfulproject@gmail.com

Help us meet our goal by Friday, June 1, 2018. This year, with funds from the Brad Bradley Memorial Arts Fund we were able to provide 16 school-wide grants and 14 classroom grants, reaching over 7,500 students in West County schools. Just imagine how many more students we can provide the opportunity to have access to art, music, theater and dance this coming year!

Funds matched by the Ed Fund come from the Brad Bradley Memorial Arts Fund, bequeathed to the Ed Fund for the Arts in the school district. DONATE Now and pass it on!

This campaign is part of the EdFund’s commitment to supporting WCCUSD’s Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) Master Plan, which calls for equitable and sequential, access to the arts for ALL students Pre-K – 12th grade.

Richmond City Council voted unanimously Tuesday, May 1st to prohibit plastic straws and plastic stirrers from being used, provided, distributed, or sold by local businesses or at city government-sponsored events, citing their negative environmental impact.

The amendment to the Richmond Food Wares Ordinance, proposed by Mayor Tom Butt’s office, also adds utensils and lids to the list of disposable food wares which must be made with recyclable or compostable materials. One-time use plastic items already prohibited in the ordinance are containers, bowls, plates, trays, cartons, cups and others including service ware for takeout foods.

The banning of plastic straws and stirrers gained the support of the Richmond Chamber of Commerce, although President and CEO James Lee expressed concern over the timeline in which city businesses would need to comply with the new rule.

A special Welcome and Congratulations to the Oakland Athletics who will be celebrating their 50th Anniversary in Oakland throughout the 2018 season! This will include appearances by A’s alumni, special promotions, events and giveaways. The A’s have created a special 50th anniversary logo to commemorate this important milestone. The logo emphasizes the team’s connection to Oakland through the use of the Oakland tree and city skyline. The logo’s shape is inspired by the iconic Oakland Fox Theater’s marquee. The color used in the number 50, Oakland tree, roof tops of the federal buildings, and logo border is a special 50th anniversary gold. The team will wear a modified version of the logo as a patch on the sleeve of home and visitor A’s jerseys during the 2018 season.
