NOW OPEN! Free Richmond Rotacare Medical Clinic

The Richmond Rotacare Medical Clinic is now open and serving uninsured workers and/or their family and friends. This is the only free medical clinic serving the uninsured in the West Contra Costa County area, according to the County Health Department. There are more than 150,000 uninsured in our area. The County Department asked Rotary to help establish this clinic, and they have helped recruit 125 volunteer doctors and nurses for staffing, secured funding for the building, and established close linkages with Brighter Beginnings, so that individuals going to the clinic for medical help can also secure social services as needed. There is no government funding to Rotacare nor fees for the medical service to the uninsured served.

GET YOUR TICKETS!

The Richmond Chamber encourages our members to purchase tickets for the MUSIC & FUNdraiser on May 2nd at 8pm, supporting this new clinic providing free medical services for uninsured family members and friends of your employees and community. Hosted by the I-80 Corridor Rotary Clubs and Rotacare Bay Area, Inc., this fundraising concert will be held at Freight and Salvage in Downtown Berkeley and will feature “Hall of Fame” song-writer and performer of folk and country music, Lacy J. Dalton [www.lacyjdalton.com]! Individual tickets and business sponsorships are available. Click here to download the flyer and ticket form.

They expect matching funds of a dollar for every dollar we raise! Donate $1 and raise $2! If members are not interested in attending the fundraising concert themselves, on the ticket form you can purchase tickets but opt to donate them to high school Interacters or college/post college Rotaracters engaged in community service.

Also, many businesses participate in the feeding of the Rotacare volunteers at the other clinics in the Bay Area, taking a turn periodically in providing “dinner” for the 20-25 volunteers on the nights the clinic is open. If your business is interested, please email James Young, President of the Richmond Rotary Club or call Fred Collignon, Assistant District Governor for I-80 Corridor Rotary Clubs at 510-549-3793.
